Fire Safety Compliance Manager

Hybrid role however a minimum of 2 days per week will need to worked out of the Worcester office. Hours are 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Compliance Manager (Fire Lead) to join a forward-thinking organisation and take ownership of a comprehensive fire risk management programme. This key leadership role will act as the nominated Responsible Person for fire safety, overseeing the end-to-end delivery and assurance of fire compliance across a varied and complex property portfolio.

The successful candidate will play a strategic and operational role in shaping fire safety policies, managing risk, and ensuring that all buildings are compliant with relevant legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Building Safety Act 2022, and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.

This position also includes responsibility for providing expert fire safety advice and monitoring support to over 80 school sites, making it a diverse and rewarding challenge for the right professional.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of fire compliance and asset management strategies.

Conduct and review fire risk assessments, maintaining a detailed action log to track and address potential hazards.

Ensure full compliance with all statutory regulations and internal fire safety policies.

Manage and oversee planned and reactive fire-related maintenance programmes.

Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver a robust fire safety service.

Liaise with fire authorities, insurers, and regulatory bodies.

Provide training, guidance, and expert support to staff on fire safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Investigate fire-related incidents and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions.

Monitor performance to ensure contractual KPIs and SLAs are consistently met or exceeded.

Stay informed of changes in legislation and industry best practice.

Lead and chair fire safety meetings and maintain accurate reporting for senior leadership teams.

 

Essential Requirements

In-depth knowledge of key fire safety legislation and regulatory frameworks, including the Fire Safety Order 2005, Building Safety Act 2022, and Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fire safety or compliance management role across a multi-site estate – ideally within the public sector, education, or similar environments.

Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH Fire Safety, IFE certification, or equivalent.

Demonstrated experience in risk management and fire policy development.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and produce actionable reports.

Experience engaging with external regulatory bodies and emergency services is highly desirable.

High level of digital literacy and confidence using modern compliance systems and reporting tools.
