Workchain is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Shift Manager for our clients nationally recognised manufacturing operation, based in Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Reporting to the Production and Planning Manager this position's primary responsibility is ensuring the shifts effectiveness by working closely with the planning department to support manufacturing jobs in line with specified timeframes whilst meeting cost, service and quality standards.

Also improving and implementing the Company’s Health and Safety policies and practices within the department.

The role will be working a 3 shift system, 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am rotating.

This role is a permanent position.

Key responsibilities:

·        Liaising closely with the planning department to plan the jobs within the extrusion department ensuring that jobs are manufactured correctly

·        Ensuring all relevant quality standards are applied and adhered to consistently

·        Day to day management of departmental personnel, including performance, absence, holiday and time and attendance system management

·        Compliance to Health and Safety policy and practice within the production department

·        Ensure and accurate and smooth transition between shift handovers

·        Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external suppliers and customers

Qualifications, requirements and experience:

·        Experience of the plastic process industry would be an advantageous within a management or supervisor capacity and a manufacturing experience

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, 10pm to 6am, with overtime available during busy periods.

The starting salary is from £41kpa depending on experience with excellent company benefits.

Previous experience of working in a fast paced plastic extrusion manufacturing environment would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
